The Vjazma aviation training school has been created on June 2, 1960. Its main goal has
been to provide training for pilots of the Armed Forces and to create a reserve for the
MIG-15 and MIG-17 fighters, beginning from 1981 - for the L-29 and from 1987 - for L-39
jets.
During this period over 4500 pilots have been trained. In 1972-1973 famous
lady-cosmonaut Svetlana Savitskaya has been training at Vjazma. Now the Vjazma aeroclub is
the largest aviation organization in the ROSTO system. It provides flight training with
L-39jets and MI-2 helicopters. It also provides training for the skydiving. Pilots and
technical staff are first the class specialists.
The RUSS Squadron has been founded in July 1987 on the base of Vjazma's aviation centre
of USSR defence society. For now RUSS has 8 pilots, 56 technicians and engineers, 32 L-39
aircrafts produced by Chezh "Aerovodohody Ltd." and AN-24 convoy aircraft.
Pilots of squadron have rich experience with variety of sport, training and fight
aircrafts. They has worked out the the element of aerobatics such as the ascenting
horizontal vrill and carried out by their own.
Russ squadron is permanent member of many airshows and airsalons in Russia and all over
